Krump is an expressive street style with aggressive, charismatic energy, born as a way to release emotion through movement. Beginners should start with core elements: jabs, arm swings, chest pops, stomps. GoDance has beginner lessons.
The style is intense and powerful, but you can start at any level — strength and stamina build with practice. A good warm-up is essential: the movements are sharp and wide.
Yes — the core elements are convenient to learn from video and drill one by one. You need some open space, since the movements are broad and expansive.
Loose, durable clothing that doesn't restrict sharp movement, and sneakers with good grip. The style is powerful, so stable shoes matter.
Core elements (jabs, stomps, chest pops) come in a few weeks; energy and 'rawness' of delivery in a couple of months of regular practice. Krump rewards emotional commitment.
Krump is the most expressive and 'explosive' of street styles, emphasizing emotion and power rather than groove (like Hip-Hop) or acrobatics (like Breaking). It's a standing energy release, without floorwork.
