Dance interval training is an effective way to quickly burn calories and improve fitness by combining short explosive bursts with dance moves. At the online dance school GoDance, you'll find ready-made interval programs in various styles, adapted for any fitness level. Work out at home for 20-30 minutes and notice results in just a couple of weeks.
Interval principle — alternating intense work and rest — triggers the EPOC effect (excess post-exercise oxygen consumption). This means you continue burning calories even after your workout. In a dance format, coordination and emotional engagement are added, boosting motivation. Unlike monotonous running, dance HIIT (high-intensity interval training) engages different muscle groups and improves flexibility. On the GoDance platform, there are ready-made interval playlists for twerking and hip-hop, where choreographers have already broken down the music into "work-rest" segments. This saves time on self-organization.
For visible results — 3-4 interval workouts per week of 20-30 minutes. Between them, be sure to take a rest day or do light stretching (for example, jazz-funk at a slow pace). Working out every day is not recommended: muscles and the nervous system need recovery. Optimal schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday — intense; other days — active rest. In the GoDance program, you can set reminders and choose a playlist for your schedule.
With 3-4 workouts per week and at least some dietary control, you will notice: improved muscle tone, especially in legs and glutes; increased endurance — you'll be able to dance longer without getting winded; a reduction of 2-5 cm in waist and hips (individual results); better coordination and sense of rhythm. The key point is that dance intervals give fast results without boredom. And the online school GoDance with a library of 1500+ lessons allows you to vary your program without leaving home.

Yes, dance HIIT burns an average of 8–12 kcal per minute (depending on weight and intensity). With regular sessions (3-4 times a week) and a balanced diet, you can lose 1-2 kg per month. It's important to combine different styles to prevent muscle adaptation.
For a 20-minute moderate-intensity interval workout, approximately 150–250 kcal. If you add fast twerking or high heels, the burn may be higher. The exact number depends on your weight, pace, and duration. Use a heart rate monitor to track.
For most styles, cushioned sneakers (not outdoor) or socks with non-slip soles work. For high heels, you'll need heels (start with low ones). If the floor is slippery, use a mat. We don't recommend dancing barefoot — risk of foot injuries.
Ideally, alternate: for example, dance HIIT 3 times a week and strength or yoga 2 times. On days after intense workouts, do stretching or light jazz-funk. Listen to your body — if you feel tired, replace an intense lesson with a calm dance from the GoDance library.
