Dancers and parents often ask what to pack for their first competition or dance camp. We've compiled a comprehensive list of essentials for several days.
Dancers and parents of young dancers who are going to their first out-of-town competition or dance camp often ask, "What do I need to pack?"
Today, we'll put together a list of essential items and food for several days.
1 — Training Clothes
Since dancers at camps barely leave training, a lot of clothes are needed.
Don't discount situations where washing and drying clothes might be difficult.
So what clothes to bring?
— Running gear (sportswear: pants, several t-shirts, a hoodie).
— Dancewear for choreography (2 sets with mix-and-match options).
— Performance outfits.
2 — Training Shoes
You'll need running shoes (sneakers) and dance shoes (heels, ballet flats, jazz shoes, etc.).
3 — Everyday Clothes and Shoes
— Jeans, t-shirts (more than 2), a dress for girls (optional).
— A warm lightweight jacket/windbreaker.
— Underwear and socks in bulk.
— Sneakers, sandals.
4 — Food
Try to pack healthy food for the road and for camp.
Bring plenty of water, as staying hydrated is crucial.
Before competitions, we recommend: bread, oatmeal, peanut butter.
These foods will keep your stomach happy.
For snacks right before competing, go with tried-and-true items.
These could be: energy bars, isotonic drinks, etc.
Avoid trying new foods.
5 — Hygiene
Don't forget these personal care items:
— Towels.
— Shampoo, shower gel, soap.
— Toothbrush, toothpaste.
— Comb, hair ties.
6 — Extras
As extras, pack in your suitcase:
— A sports bag to carry your dance gear.
— Insect repellent.
— Laundry detergent.
— A small first-aid kit with bandages, plasters, and basic medications.
— Muscle pain cream.
— Swimsuit, flip-flops.
7 — Documents and Communication
Gather these documents in a separate folder:
— Passport.
— Birth certificate.
— International passport (if camp is abroad).
— Insurance.
— Visa.
— Other required documents.
Don't forget chargers and a power bank for your phone, tickets, and pocket money.
If you're going abroad for competitions, arrange your communication in advance—specifically roaming.
Otherwise, you might lose contact or spend a lot.
We hope our tips help make your trip safe and unforgettable!
Good luck!
