Pole Dance is perfect for expressing your feelings through body language, boosting self-esteem, and perfecting your appearance. Many people don't even realize there are various styles within this dance.
When discussing the origins of this dance style, we could go on about Indian boys nimbly climbing mallakhamba (an ancient wooden pole analogue) like energetic monkeys. But let's be honest: Pole Dance originated from striptease. It came to us in the wild 80s straight from Canadian strip clubs.
Of course, our little one has grown since then, acquiring various acrobatic elements and tricks, and now it's hard to call this dance style striptease.
Which Pole Dance style is perfect for you?
Pole Dance is a synthesis of choreography, gymnastics, and acting. There are several styles in Pole Dance:
1. Artistic
This style of Pole Dance can be compared to rhythmic gymnastics, but here you'll see more dance, body flexibility, and artistry. It's great for creative souls and refined personalities who value theatrical performance alongside acrobatics. Properly chosen music, performer's mood, acting skills, and of course equipment are crucial. The choreography seamlessly blends with pole tricks, focusing on your overall image. Viewers should be fully immersed in your story, pondering or laughing with you. It becomes a full theatrical performance. Clothing is chosen more carefully based on the tricks in your routine. Half the dance is on the pole, the rest on the floor. Acrobatic elements are key; original combinations, smooth transitions, flexibility, and plasticity are highly valued. Most importantly, harmony throughout the performance. Artistic is rightly considered the brightest and most spectacular type of Pole Dance.
2. Exotic
This style focuses on seduction, emotional expression, and body flexibility. Additional equipment like boots and shorter shorts (tango) are allowed. But keep within decency and don't confuse it with classic striptease. This style is great for beginners as it doesn't require complex acrobatics.
3. Fitness
Special emphasis on pole work and strength exercises. Roughly 70% pole work and 30% floor work. No high heels or loose morals here. Performers wear sports shorts and tops. Women perform complex elements requiring good physical fitness. Athletes demonstrate agility, flexibility, and stretching. That's why this style is considered the most challenging in Pole Dance. Pole Dance has long become an alternative to traditional fitness. Now you can replace many gym machines with a single pole. Thanks to the fitness direction, many people have lost weight and continue to refine their figure every day.
