Music for Pole Dance: Finding the Perfect Song

Finding the perfect song for your pole dance routine can be challenging. There are at least two scenarios. In the first, the dance idea comes first, and then you select the music. In the second, it's the opposite: you find a suitable melody first, and then the dance is inspired by it. The type of music also depends entirely on the pole dance style and the performer's age.

There are generally 8 main music types for a dance routine:

  • 1. Muted, Slow & Intense

This style is especially popular among female performers. Melodic music reveals your potential, slow movements and acrobatic elements convey the true meaning of the routine, and a well-chosen style completes the picture. A great example is BANKS - Brain. This melody combines all the above advantages and helps beginners loosen up.
  • 2. Heavy Rock

This direction works particularly well in Pole Dance Sport. Active, aggressive music positively affects the dancer's emotional state, helping them reach new heights. Heavy Rock is classic pole dance music. Warrant - Cherry Pie is a sure winner, as it has been used for some of the most beloved pole dance routines.
  • 3. Romantic, Slow & Sensual

Romantic, slow, and sexy songs are another classic type of pole dance music. Many modern pop songs have lyrics that practically invite pole dancing and other forms of fluid dance movement. A perfect example is The Weeknd - Earned It. This sensual melody fits this direction perfectly.
  • 4. Vintage & Retro

If you're tired of typical pole dance songs, try this direction. The music adds excitement to your training because using retro style immerses you in the era's vibe, revealing pole dance from a new perspective. A typical retro track is Fever - Peggy Lee.
  • 5. Dubstep & EDM

If you like rave style, choose music in Dubstep, EDM, or Electronica—perfect for pole workouts! Flight Facilities - Crave You is an ideal composition for this direction; the rhythmic melody simplifies execution and adds a special touch to pole dance.
  • 6. Trippy Music

These songs provide creative inspiration to add story and a bit of quirkiness to your next pole routine! Jefferson Airplane - White Rabbit is perfect for this direction.
  • 7. Seasonal Tracks

Often, in anticipation of beloved holidays, you want to make a routine special and interesting to surprise event guests. That's when seasonal tracks come in handy. They typically reflect the holiday atmosphere and immerse performers in it. Kylie Minogue - Santa Baby captures the New Year vibe, while Alice Cooper - Feed My Frankenstein is often used for Halloween-themed performances.

Music not only inspires dancers but also adds a unique quality to the performance.
