Just started Tango and feeling unsure about your technique? Today we cover key points to improve your Tango technique. Learn about confidence, energy, steps, and posture to enhance your dance.
1. Be confident in yourself and your partner
The contact with your partner is close. So some dancers may need time to get used to the intimacy. While dancing, the leader should embrace the follower around the waist and pull her close.
The follower, in turn, should hold the leader's hand with one hand and place the other on his shoulder. To feel confident in the dance, you need to practice more. Only practice leads to perfection!
2. Energy
As we know, Tango is a passionate and energetic dance style. The main flow of emotions and feelings in the dance comes from the energy between the couple. This energy forms the essential connection between them during the performance. The energy flow should originate from the dancer's center, then travel through the arms to the chest, creating a unique connection. Beginners often find this task challenging and unattainable. However, with practice and effort, the energy will naturally emerge.
3. Improve your steps
In Tango, proper leg movement plays a crucial role. When moving, your feet should glide gracefully along the floor as much as possible, rather than simply stepping or moving too slowly.
4. Perfect your posture
Keep your back straight, engage your core, and keep your stomach tight. Your chest should be open, as it facilitates the unique connection between you and your partner. Make sure most of your weight is on the balls of your feet. This position helps maintain control during the choreography.
Recommendations:
For Tango practice, buy only comfortable shoes that won't cause discomfort. They should fit perfectly, with no pinching or rubbing. Remember, knowing the technique is the best way to go from beginner to pro.
Tango is an art
Before training, leave all negative thoughts behind—enter the studio with a smile, a good mood, and anticipation of a pleasant time. Feel the rhythm of the music, how it flows through you, lifts you up, and gives you energy.
