The History and Characteristics of New Style Dance

Dance is taking over the world more and more. These days, you won't meet a person who hasn't tried their hand at dancing at least once. And, of course, more and more new styles are emerging.

In this article, we'll talk about a new style called "New Style," which has rapidly burst into the modern world of dance and music.

This subgenre of hip-hop originated in America. It is also called Freestyle (free style). In the nineties, many countries underwent changes in politics, economics, and the world of creativity: music and dance. Hip-hop was not left untouched. From top rock (breakdance), a new type gradually formed — New Style.

Like many other styles, it also incorporated several directions: jazz, Latin, reggae, breakdance, and others. But notably, no single style's elements dominate. Jazz technique smoothly transitions into swing, and breakdance easily morphs into Latin. Every movement seems invented on the spot.

This dance is characterized by a relaxed execution, but that's just the "tip of the iceberg." The dancer resembles a compressed spring that can unleash incredible energy at any moment.

You'll see both a relaxed "bounce" and precise, sharp movements from top rock. Acrobatic elements are rarely seen, but they exist, along with low jumps and numerous turns. But the most important thing is not the technique or even the novelty of the style, but the unlimited opportunity for improvisation.

After all, dance is the fruit of your imagination, a flight of thought and emotion. A developed imagination will give you the basis for all sorts of new combinations. You just need to find an untried option and combine the incompatible, making the impossible possible.

That's exactly what many famous dancers and singers saw, like Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, and others. In their music videos, everyone moves in this new style. Many dance competitions and various shows of this direction are created. The number of New Style fans is steadily growing.

Thus, there are many followers of this style. And it's not surprising! Time flows, and people change with it. We crave more freedom and expression, and Freestyle gives us all that. But no matter what style of dance you choose, know that your body's possibilities are limitless. Dare to dance and be loved!
