The art of dance has been globally valued since ancient times. Children's dance evolved from simple movements to diverse styles like hip-hop and contemporary, fostering self-expression and growth.
The significance of dance as an art form has always been valued worldwide. Dig deeper into history and you'll find that people even used body movements to influence the weather, not to mention celebrations or other momentous events.
Thus, we can trace the development of dance across all cultures. The origins of children's dance also date back to ancient times. Initially, it was just chaotic "mimicry" to music, but soon children embraced a popular movement known as kids' dance.
Every person tries to express their emotions and thoughts in some way, as it is very difficult—almost impossible—to keep everything inside. Let alone children! They explore the world with such joy, experience things so openly and sincerely, whether delight or disappointment! Their every movement speaks for itself.
It is through dance that a child finds themselves, becoming harmonious not only with the world but also with themselves. Moreover, dance fosters both physical and aesthetic development. It builds strength of spirit, endurance, flexibility, and self-confidence; children get sick less often and feel less down. Their excess energy is channeled positively toward their own harmonious growth.
As the world around changes, so do the dances. Some elements are added, others fade away forever. The tempo of movements accelerates, and many new styles emerge: classical, ballroom, hip-hop, jazz, Latin, and more. People quickly invent new things. Children are doubly receptive, picking up everything on the fly. That's why children's dance has evolved "in step" with adult dance.
Children easily embrace bright, energetic, and fiery styles: jazz, hip-hop, folk. Ballet is harder because it requires diligence and double effort. Interestingly, this is why ballet was practically the last dance style to reach children.
Today, contemporary dance has burst in quickly and easily. This term, strangely enough, doesn't refer to a single style but encompasses several, borrowing elements from folk dances, two-step, techno, and more, combining them in a unique manner. Contemporary wins children over with its freedom, democracy, vivid self-expression, and undoubtedly acrobatic elements.
Sometimes it seems impossible to invent anything new—that everything has already been done. But suddenly thoughts, movements, and costumes appear, and another new dance style is born. Our whole life is a journey of discovering the world, and who knows what our children will come up with...
