Beaulieu College Youngsters Dance to World Championship Glory in Bangkok

South Africa, 30 July 2026 – From a rehearsal studio in South Africa to the bright lights of an international stage in Bangkok, a group of young dancers from Beaulieu College has turned months of hard work into a world championship moment. Balancing schoolwork and demanding rehearsals, the team rose to the occasion at the Global League X World Championships in Thailand, where they competed against schools and dance studios from around the world. The Beaulieu College dance team was crowned World Champions and also earned a bronze medal, making their international tour one to remember.

The road to Bangkok involved far more than learning choreography. The dancers spent months preparing for the competition while balancing demanding rehearsal schedules with their school responsibilities. Head of Dance at Beaulieu College and founder of Dance Culture Studios, Quintus Jansen, said the moment Beaulieu College was announced as World Champions was one the dancers would carry with them for years.

“Standing on a world stage and hearing Beaulieu College announced as World Champions is something our dancers will never forget. While the title is an incredible achievement, what makes me most proud is the way these young people represented themselves, their school and South Africa throughout the tour.”

The competition was one thing, but experiencing another country was something else. The dancers also had the opportunity to experience Thailand’s culture, explore Bangkok, visit temples and connect with fellow dancers from different parts of the world.

“International competition is about much more than medals. It allows young people to experience different cultures, build friendships across borders and develop confidence that extends far beyond dance.”

The championship-winning routines were prepared with the support of choreographer Thabang Rabothata, while Beaulieu College teacher Fiona Young accompanied the team and supported the dancers throughout the week-long tour.

Now back home, the dancers can celebrate not only a world title and a bronze medal, but the friendships and memories gained along the way. That mix of strong preparation, teamwork and real passion for dance is something every training space can learn from — and it’s exactly what we strive for at GoDance.
