7 Partner Dances You Must Try!

Partner dance is a dance performed by a pair of dancers.

Partner dances are known worldwide and have been popular throughout the ages.

They encompass everything that happens in a relationship between a woman and a man.

Today, there are countless types of partner dances that bring joy and allow you to express yourself in the art of dance.

Many ladies now choose street dance styles, such as Hip-Hop and Dancehall.

However, if you want to learn how to interact with a partner and trust them, then welcome to partner dancing!

Today, we explore a selection of the best dance styles!

1 — Salsa

Salsa is a social dance that is easy to learn.

If you want to learn a dance charged with Latin sensuality, fun, and passion, then Salsa is for you!

Today, almost all dance schools teach Salsa, and some even offer Bachata or Merengue.

2 — American Smooth

In this category of dances, competitions are not held; the social aspect takes a significant place.

This program is similar to the international one.

American Smooth is distinguished by its straightforward style and slight modifications to the basic movements of ballroom dancing.

American Smooth includes the following styles: Tango, Waltz, Foxtrot.

3 — Ballroom Dances

This type of dance has a rich history and includes styles such as Foxtrot, Quickstep, Tango, Waltz, and others.

Ballroom dancing is a partner dance combining the best of other dance styles along with artistry.

Various tournaments and competitions are held for them.

So if you love constant competition and excitement, these are for you.

4 — Swing

The term "swing" is broad and includes the following categories: Lindy Hop, West Coast Swing, Shag, Charleston, East Coast Swing, Blues, Balboa.

Almost all of these styles are performed at a fast and energetic tempo.

Only Blues is slow and more sensual.

5 — Latin Dances

Latin dances include: Rumba, Jive, Samba, Paso Doble, Cha-Cha-Cha.

This dance style is competitive, with various tournaments and competitions held for it.

All Latin dances are rhythmic and emotional, and only some are sensual.

6 — Argentine Tango

Argentine tango is one of the most sensual and passionate partner dances, yet it differs from American and classical tango.

American tango reflects the beginning of a relationship—the period when passion burns between lovers.

Latin tango portrays the stage when lovers are obsessed with each other.

Classical tango reflects the relationship after twenty years, when former lovers can barely stand each other.

Apart from modeling relationship stages, these tango styles have almost nothing in common.

So if you and your partner decide to take up dancing, we recommend trying Argentine tango.

7 — American Rhythm

This type cannot be competitive and is not included in competitions.

This category includes the following dances: Swing, Cha-Cha-Cha, Mambo, Rumba, Bolero.

If you prefer social dances, then American Rhythm is for you!

We hope this article was helpful and you found the dance style that meets your requirements and desires!
